Can’t get enough of black people masking themselves as white, or men dressing up as ladies, or even black guys disguising themselves as white girls? Well, you are in good hands! The sequel to the cult film, White Chicks, is coming to theaters soon under the name White Chicks 2.
It’s great news, isn’t it? However, before you became enthralled with excitement, keep in mind that the sequel is still undergoing production in the first stage. The Wayans brothers, the geniuses behind the movie, are in talks of creating a second movie.
Regardless, we have just more than rumors. Confirmation has been said and done straight from the mouth of ½ of the masterminds behind White Chicks, Marlon Wayans, who helped direct, write and produce the movie. The 45-year-old comedian made an appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live on Thursday, March 1. During the show, a huge fan of the movie in the studio audience asked the question we were all hoping for: Will there be a White Chicks 2?
Wayans gave the perfect answer:
“Is White Chicks 2 happening anytime soon? I don’t know. But there’s been a lot of rumblings happening. A lot of people want us to do it. So me and my brothers have been talking. So if things go right, we hope to do a White Chicks 2.”
We were right, weren’t we? It’s not just gossip anymore! People will keep talking in hysteria about the possibility of the second movie, yet all we can do is just wait and find out. Even so, during the wait, it’s important that we head back to our TV’s and enjoy the humorousness of the original and continue our excitement for the sequel in style.
White Chicks was released in theaters in 2004, displaying the story of Marcus and Kevin Copeland, played by Marlon and Shawn Wayans. The Copeland brothers are two FBI agents who are given the job of providing security for two young and wealthy heiresses, and in order to so, the brothers go undercover in disguise as two white ladies, with blonde hair.
The movie may not have garnered stellar ratings from critics and viewers alike, receiving a rating of 3.7 out of 10 on Rotten Tomatoes, yet received an audience rating of 55%, meaning that most people did actually enjoy it. The humor entailed in the movie was lackadaisically embroiled with silly and charismatic comedy, and ended up being nominated for five Razzies. The movie since then has become an instant cult classic, with its fans continuing to demand a sequel, and we may yet soon have our prayers answered.
We must also keep in mind that nothing can ever be 100% agreed upon, with some people sharing their thoughts on Twitter suggesting that it is a bad idea to produce a sequel.
Two different opinions clashed, with the commentators giving their honest answer for the possibility of a sequel. Some believe in the cliche saying ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, along with others adding on and saying “Nooooooo, leave it alone. First one is a classic and we don’t need a disappointment lol [sic].”
Twitter user Vannick Douglas also added onto the clash, saying “No, please don’t. There’s too much creative within their family to warrant a sequel over something fresh. That brand of humor doesn’t work in 2018 and given the track record of every comedy sequel, it’s very difficult to top the original.”
“Omfg if there’s a white chicks 2 my life is gonna be complete.”

Cody Ray Morales wrote: “After so many years? Idk man, it might be trash at this point if not, I’ll eat my words.”
Yet we have others who loved the idea for the sequel, Jessica Hawkins, even though she seems to believe that the first one had great ratings, wrote this:
“If the main characters are willing to do it and the first movie made great ratings, there’s definitely a high chance for this to happen. I really hope they do.”
And, most of all, what do you think? Should there be a sequel, or should we leave the first movie alone? Let us know in the comments below!
