Oprah Winfrey Feels Great After Losing 42 Lbs, Picks Up Weight Training

At the start of last year, Oprah Winfrey told PEOPLE how she managed to lose 42 lbs after decades of struggling with her weight. Fast forward one year, and the talk show host has maintained her weight — even over the holidays.

“Usually every Christmas I’m up eight to 12 lbs.,” the 64-year-old told PEOPLE magazine in this week’s upcoming story. “So to be able to gain nothing during Christmas and watch people eat cronuts in front of me, I consider that a victory for someone who has been an emotional eater and struggled with up-and-down weight loss my whole life,” she added.

The issue in which Winfrey will “answer everything” on faith, weight and the White House hits newsstands tomorrow.

“I really want to get more fit and stronger and see if I can blow it out at 65. Blow it out!” she said, revealing that she’ll be starting a weight-training program soon. “My goal to be 65 and you all say, ‘What happened to Oprah? She is ripped.'”

The media proprietor who owns 10 percent of Weight Watchers and works as their spokesperson hopes to continue her journey to health.

In the interview, the Mississippi-born actress emphasizes that as long as she maintains her current weight, she’ll remain happy.

“If I didn’t lose another pound, I still feel really fantastic,” Winfrey said. “I’m not trying to be skinny, not trying for a size. I’m just trying to be as healthy as my body wants to be.”
